Rio de Janeiro, 21st.06.2012 – The UN Secretary-General’s “Sustainable Energy for All” initiative is about driving actions and mobilizing commitments towards three objectives, all to be achieved by 2030:

  1. ensuring energy access,
  2. doubling energy efficiency,
  3. doubling the share of renewable energy.

Since its launch less than one year ago, “Sustainable Energy for All” ’s track record to date includes more than 50 Governments from Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Small Islands Developing States, private investors, multilateral development banks, international and civil society organizations, businesses, donors, entrepreneurs, organizations, artists, and individual volunteers.

More than a billion people will benefit from Sustainable Energy for All’s public and private sector commitments. Most beneficiaries in developing countries will gain improved access to energy through grid extension and off-grid solutions, as well scaled-up renewable energy sources, increased investment and improved energy policies.
